On Tuesday afternoon, MoveOn DC members attended a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, chaired by Assistant majority leader, Senator Dick Durban, called “Taking Back Our Democracy: Responding to Citizens Unitedand the Rise of super PACS”.  The hearing was called to examine the proposed responses to the Supreme Court’s ruling on Citizens United and included discussion of constitutional amendments and pending legislation before Congress.

Pennsylvania Students and Parents Ask Lawmakers to Extend Loan Interest Rates

If no Congressional action is taken, the interest rate on subsidized Stafford Student Loans will double from 3.4% to 6.8% on July 1. A group including Pennsylvania students, parents, and thePennsylvania Public Interest Research Group (PennPIRG), a non-profit, non-partisan, public interest advocacy organization, are calling on Pennsylvania Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey to take action to keep interest rates where they are now.
